National Female Political Leaders of the 20th and 21st Centuries: A Life and Times Approach

This is a study of the women who made a political impact on the nation from 1912 to 2012. The course will cover twenty-five years each session. Session I - (1912-1937) - This class will introduce the era and then address such notables as Alice Paul, Margaret Sanger, Jeanette Rankin, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mary McLeod Bethune and Frances Perkins. Session II - (1938-1963) - The class will consider Oveta Culp Hobby, Rosa Parks, and Ella Baker. Session III - (1963-1989) - This class will focus on Phyllis Schlafly, Barbara Jordan, and Sandra Day O'Connor. Session IV- (1989-2012) - This class will address Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Condoleezza Rice, and Hillary Clinton.
