Writing in 3-D: How to Make Your Words Jump Off the Page

Charlotte Observer columnist Tommy Tomlinson is creative writing at its best. In his two-day workshop, your inner creativity will be inspired, and you'll learn how to make your words jump off the page. This is a unique opportunity to learn from a tremendous writer and speaker! Tommy's class is organized into four sections: (1) Reporting: How to look at the world, train your eye for detail, conduct interviews, and filter the signal from the noise. Includes exercise in noticing your surroundings, looking closely and thinking in metaphor. (2) Words on the Page: How to put information on the page truly and vividly and tell a compelling story. (3) Revising: How to look at your own work with a critical eye, and learn the tools to make it better. (4) Creativity: How to tackle writer's block and clear the path toward a creative life. Includes exercise in free writing. Current Queens students and Queens alumni are eligible for a 10% discount. Please e-mail walkere@queens.edu for the coupon code.
